Biography
Who am I?
My name is Francisco Saia. I was born on 18 September 1998 in Savona.
In 2017, after finishing high school, I made "Il lupo di Germania", a short film about the holocaust, which won the Trash Prize at the Festival Intercomunale of Brescia. This short was selected in 2018 at the David di Donatello Awards in the short films category.
I graduated in directing and screenwriting in 2018 at SDAC - Genova Film School. I worked for a year as camera operator and videomaker for M Events, a video-TV production based in Genoa. I have also worked as assistant director for films, short films and web series.
In 2018 I wrote and directed "Abraham", a dramatic short film about bullying and racism, distributed by Oprime.tv, an international distribution company and by Amazon Prime Video. I got some awards and nominations or official selections with this short film.
In 2019 I worked as first assistant director on the shooting of “Say Grace”, a British short film directed by Phil Hawkins (an English director). In the same year I was also the assistant director of “iLove”, a web serie with more than 1 million views, set in Rome.
In that year I also wrote "The competition", a drama short film that has received several international awards including a nomination at the Asian Film Festival in Los Angeles and one at the Lift India Filmostav in Mumbai - India.
In 2020 I won a screenwriting competition, and I collaborated as screenwriter for one episode of a television documentary "Il museo dopo il ponte", produced by LaContessa Film Company.
In the same year, I worked as assistant director on “Girls Like You”, a web serie, directed by the YouTuber Rosy Di Carlo.
At the end of 2020, I started a Filmmaker course, organized by CESCOT.
